March Colour Inspiration
The colour inspiration for this month is brought to you by the feeling of spring in the air :-)
March is a funny month, it feels like spring, yet around here there is usually still plenty of snow on the ground. It's also Maple Syrup time, when you can drive down the country roads and see whole forests crisscrossed with sap lines, or buckets hanging from all the trees.
The sun is shining warmer, and the first few bits of fresh green start to emerge (hello, snowdrops!), so my colour inspiration this month is a bit sunny, and a bit fresh green.

March Colour Palette
For this palette, I picked Kona solids in Canary, Goldfish, Salmon, Sage, and Spring to represent my colours.

If you prefer a different brand of solids (my local shop carries every colour of Kona, so that's always been my go-to), and you have an iPhone, I recommend downloading the QuiltySolid app. You can enter either the name of a colour, a hex code, or CMYK values, and it will give you colour matches across all the different lines of solids from 16 fabric manufacturers, as well as threads from the likes of Aurifil, DMC, Wonderfil etc.
March Quilt Mockups
I loved playing with this colour palette, but it was a challenge at the same time to keep to the spring feel of the palette and not dive into retro looks (that have their own charm, but weren't what I was going for here).
First up, let's have a look at Flocks of Colour. This pattern works so well with so many different colourways, I find it keeps cropping up in these inspiration posts. I especially like how this version could be equally at home on the couch for spring, or in a gender-neutral nursery.

Dancing Hearts is another one I love playing with. Because it uses 6 fabrics, I always have to add an extra one, but this mockup is still keeping the appearance of the yellow/peach and green/turquoise colour combination.

A pattern I haven't used for mockups yet is Pie in the Sky. This one is a magazine pattern that is currently not available in the pattern shop as a standalone, but is in issue 58 of Make Modern magazine.
I love the little nod to Pac-Man in this pattern, and these colours are adding just the right little retro touch to the look.

Continuing with patterns that weren't featured in these monthly mockups yet, here is a very old one (the second one I wrote, actually) that is not getting as much love at the moment as it probably should. Canadian Diamonds is on my list to rewrite, because I think it deserves to have multiple sizes, and some fun colour options, too. But in the meantime, here's the baby size in the march colours.

Twisted Log Cabin is my bestselling block pattern. It comes in both an FPP and a traditionally pieced version, and can be used in full quilts in lots of different layouts. Here's my take on the block in this month's colours.

And a version of a full quilt made with it could look like this...

... or like this.

And just to finish off (I was having a lot of fun with these colours), here's Line Dance, the pattern from last summer's Sew-Along.
