February Colour Inspiration

February means Valentine's day, so this month's colour inspiration is all about hearts, love, and candy.

February Colour Palette

I picked Sangria, Deep Rose, Blush Pink, Woodrose, and Crimson from my box of Kona swatches.

February Quilt Mockups

Playing with this ombre colour palette has been lots of fun. Of course I had to use all my heart quilts for mockups, too.

But this colour palette works not just on hearts.

I love how this Bar Code turned out. It's not a quilt I normally would think to make in an ombre colourway, but it works really well. I did have to add an extra fabric because it uses 6, rather than the 5 I had in the colour palette, so I added a pale grey to it and really like how that works with the pinks.

Now the Spinning Top was an ombre quilt from the start. The cover quilt on the pattern is an ombre version, although I've made it with other fabrics, too.

For this mockup I decided to use the same pale grey that I added in Bar Code, but for the background. Since Bar Code already had a white background, I wanted to see what it would look like with the pale grey and I think it makes a wonderfully soft, girly kind of quilt. Can you imagine this in flannels or wovens?

And of course we have the heart quilts. Scrappy Love is the perfect quilt for this love and Valentine's day-themed colour scheme. I doubled up on some of the colours because the hearts use 8 fabrics, but it can definitely be done with just the 5 from the colour palette.

The background here is a super pale pink, and it makes for another super girly, cozy quilt.

And lastly, Tumbled Love. This table runner is super fun and quick to make, especially if you have precut scraps, or a couple of mini charm packs. The two runners I've made used the same fabric for the backing and border, but I love this bold pink frame here.

Which one are you going to make?
