Ripple & Swirl – the pink one

I made another Ripple quilt, this time in bright pink. I love how quick this pattern is to whip up, while being in no way boring. HSTs really are one of the most versatile blocks around. This quilt is the throw size, which is fat quarter friendly (always a bonus) so I just picked a selection of bright pink, and white on white prints. It’s going to be gifted to a little girl who just became a big sister, and since her little brother gets to use the family baby quilt, she gets a “big girl bed” quilt. She loves cats, so I had to get this awesome kitty fabric…

Dayglow – in Love Patchwork & Quilting issue 86

I’m so excited to finally share this quilt. It was made and sent off to Love Patchwork & Quilting almost 5 months ago and I haven’t been able to say anything about it until now. Well, I did share the cover photo with my mum and best quilty friend when I got it, because I couldn’t not tell someone 😉 But, issue 86 is out now! They’re not able to ship any paper issues internationally at this point, due to the pandemic lockdown measures affecting Royal Mail, but the magazine is still available as a digital issue through Zinio, Apple News, Google Play or the Love Patchwork & Quilting app…

    Winter Swirl

Today I’m sharing another Swirl quilt! This winter version was finished just a few days ago, and I managed to get some photos of it before too much of the snow had melted. The Ripple&Swirl pattern is available in the pattern shop. I really enjoyed making this quilt because of the light colours, it is such a contrast to the original one in nautical navy and red. I wasn’t sure at first whether it was going to be a beachy, white sand and blue water kind of a quilt, or more of a winter wonderland with snow and bright blue sky (my favourite kind of winter days, although they also…

    Birthstones

When I was chatting with Colleen about her version of the Facets quilt above, we got to talking about birthstones and all the options to use that concept in a quilt. From baby quilts in the new baby’s birthstone colour, to Mother’s Day or Father’s Day gifts similar to the Mother’s Pride jewellery, to family quilts and wedding gifts, the possibilities truly are endless. I was so inspired I had to sit down with my Kona colour chart and figure out some birthstone colour combinations. There are only 9 colour combinations for the 12 months of the year, because a few colours are too close to make a truly different…

Ripple & Swirl – Tester Quilts

    Expanding Stars by Quilty Love

This spring I’ve been working on this Expanding Stars quilt thanks to a quilt-along Emily Dennis of Quilty Love was running. Not that I really had that much time to spare, but I love the simplicity and impact of this quilt, and being in a scrap organizing and scrap busting frame of mind lately, I couldn’t wait to try to make this with what I had on hand. I usually buy materials as I need them, although working at a fabric shop has meant I’ve brought home a few treasures here and there that weren’t strictly earmarked for a project yet. But on the whole, I don’t have a huge…

    Flocks of Colour

This fun rainbow splash of colour is my first ever published pattern, Flocks of Colour. It originally featured in Make Modern magazine’s issue 19 and is the pattern that started it all, so to speak. I used a rainbow of prints for the flying geese, and because I love bold pops of colour, I placed them on a dark blue background for maximum impact. This quilt is a lovely quick project that can easily be scaled up or down to even more sizes by a more advanced quilter, but the pattern includes instructions for both baby and throw sizes to get you started. As you can see from these pictures,…
